Chapter 3

Nick ends up getting the invite to Gatsby's party and ends up going. As we know Gatsby is famous for is big party's. When Nick gets there he states that is fells out of place and that he really don't know anyone that is there, so is walks around and see that Jordan is there the girl that he meet at Daisy's house. They get to talking about things and then decisded that they are going to go and see if they can find Gatsby and they end up running to to this OWL eyed guy and they listen to him talk for away and then they keep looking. They end up sitting at a table and and sitting with this man and that was him and they end up talking about world war I. As the night went on people started to leave and some people started to drink more and get drunk. Nick ends up leave at around two and walks home and see that the OWL eyed guy put his car in the dich and ask what happen and OWL eyed trys to talk but he is so drunk you can't under stand him and that was Nick great night.

Chapter 2

Nick and Tom get on a train and go and visit Wilson and his wife. Tom and Wilson's wife Myrtle are having affair and Wilson and Tom's wife don't know that this is going on, so they end up going to some apartments and that is where Myrtle and Tom go so that know one will know about them. There at the apartment the meet up with Myrtle's sister Catherine and some other couple named the McKee. they all started drinking and Nick states that he has never gotten drunk ,but only one other time. The two men try to leave, but they just keep drinking and everyone kind starts to get louder. After away Tom goes and get the gift that he got Myrtle, he gets her a puppy and when he gives the puppy to her she starts to yell Daisy's name Daisy is Tom's really Wife. Tom ends up hitting her in the face and braking her nose.

Chapter 1

Takes place the summer of 1922. Nick states that he is going to go and look at some house in west egg were the rich people live or also know as the million airs. Nick ends up going and visiting his cousin Daisy and her husband Tom. They end up going out to dinner and Daisy ends up interoducing Nick and Jordon one of Daisy's Friends and Nick and her get to talking. Tom and Daisy think that they are starting to fall in love. Before all that takes place Daisy ask if Nick had mat Gatsby and Nick says know and that he really doesn't know anyone. Daisy say i can't believe that you don't know Gatsby Nick says why and Daisy states he a million air and has lots of money. Nick ends up going home that night and meeting Gatsby.

Thesis:
Henry showed courage in staying to fight, over coming his fear of dieing and by caring the flag at he end.

This states that instead of him wishing that he was at home he know wishes that he would get shot and so that they would think that he had courage.

It was a mysterious fraternity born of the smoke and danger of death.” He wasn’t fighting because he was brave but because everyone else was fighting. He was shooting to shoot like playing a game. He did not know why he was shooting he was just shooting because he was one of the guys, one of the regiment.

• “He now thought that he wished he was dead. He
Believed he envied those men whose bodies lay strewn over the grass of the fields and on the fallen leaves of the forest.” He states that he would rather be died then has to stay and fight in this war. If he died he would know what happened to him, if was the fear of the unknown, the fear of not knowing what was going to happen in battle that made him afraid. Being dead was a sure thing; there would be no unknown.

CLEAN AND DARKNESS-Ryan: Nothing clean it all takes place in the dirty nasty area. Henry: clean when he is not fighting and dirty is when he is bloody and is in riped closes.

NOISE AND SILENCE-Ryan:noise is the shooting and the people cry and bombs going off and silence is when you are at peace. Henry: noise is the shoot and the guns and silence is when he hide and was by him self.

LIGHT AND DARK-Ryan: light when he at peace when he is walking to look at the grave sits. Darkness is when is fighting. Henry: when he is fight that is light and darkness is when he hids because he is scared and doesn't know what to do.

YOUTH AND MATUNITY- They are both young and and Henry is scared and Ryan is not.

SYMBOLS
The dead soldiers-In the moveie they helped the bleeding and in Henry they just left them there.

The flag- stood for pride in the moveie and the book is was for the mom who had lost there loved one.

THEMES
courage- Henry really didn't have any tell the end he was scared most of the time.In Ryan he wasn't and didn't really care and

manhood- they both grew and changed

self-presservation- Henry he ran and hid and was scard and Ryan wasn't he fought hard and wasn't scars

Disregard for humans life- they didn't care that they had killed those people on Henry but in Ryan they let some of them go cause in a way they did care they just wonted to get Ryan out of there

Chapter 24

The men are order to go back to the camp that is right by the river. Henry walk back and thinks to him self on how he can go back home and not really be happy about the stuff that he did not to help the other people out in his team. The men start to run cause it starts to down bower on them and Henry feels happy and joyed as over the the hills the sun states to brake throw.

I am glad that he fells bad on the things he didn't help the team with.

chapter 23

The officer tells the men that they need to charge to the fence and get closer. Henry hears that and startes to charge throw the smoke and heads for the fence, but Henry ends up give the flag to another man and the man endes up geting kills and so Henry and Jim charge to get the flag before it hits the ground. After the get it the find a patch of grass and fall in to it.



I think that it great that they saved the flag and didn't let it hit the ground.



Why don't they stay and fit in stead of laying in the grass?

chapter 22

The men think that the battle is over but its not they are told that its time to go out and as Henry stands there and watches cause now he is scared and dose wont to die all he can do is watch the gray and the blue go at it. As he stands there holding the flag over his head and all he can see is the bullits and the smock all around him and the men that are falling cause they got shot.

He needs to get out there and fight.

chapter 21

Henry and Jim them return to the army line and the men are proud that they can make astop to this. Two other men go and find Henry and Jim and tell them that they had over heard some of the sargents talking about them and how they save there army and the they are the top people being talked about and that they are something like a hero.


I can't belive that they are like heros.

chapter 20

Henry and Jim save the flag and run to take cover from the guns being fired at them. Henry ends up taking the flag and charged across the battle field and tells the men to keep fighting and the this battle is not over. He tells the men that they are to charge at the other men and that they are going to be succeed and that they are going to win.

I am very proud of him for takeing the flag and wonting to win and not give up.

chapter 19

Henry and Jim over hear the comanders talking about that they think that unit 304th should all be killed at the end of this battle, so then Henry runs back to tell teh new and to tell them to start to charge and that the battle is on. They start on the line and get ready to charge. They all start to shot and fire. Then Henry see the flag fly and then at the next second he see that the holder is shot and he falls to his knees. Henry hopes that the flag can stay up and stay flying.


I hop the flag stays flying as well or that means they lost.

chapter 18

As the men lay there they hear one of there comander cry out in pain. Henry says that he is going to go and find a stream and when he dose he endes up not finding one. All he can see is part of the battle were he see some men in blue and there comander is yelling at the. The comander ends up see Henry and gose up to him and asked what unit he was form Henry says unit 304th.



I think that Henry should just stat with his comander.

chapter 17

As they sat and waited for the men to come and stand on the line they all just stood there and waited. Henry ends up shoting his gun thinking that he is shoting at someone and when he opens his eyes and see smoke and everyone laughting at him. He thinks to him self wow i can't believe that this just happened. The sargent says oh my dear lord the battle is over and we won.

Henry is dum and needs some lessons on how to fight in the war.

chapter 16

The men Henry and Wilson and told to go into a trench and there Wilson ended up falling fast asleep. Henry ends up get on his suit and going back out. When he is walking throw the forest he started by talking bad about other people and the sargents and how it there falt that we are loseing the battle and that they should be doing something better to help us win not just leting up get killed. Henry ends up just shoting his mouth, so as the men stand and whate they as standing there listenign to the sound of the loud thunder coming from the war and the gun shots.


I think that Henry needs to shut his mouth before he gets shot.

chapter 15

Wilson ends up geting shot and so then Henry is in charge of geting that yellow peace of paper to is family and to make sure that they get it if Wilson doesn't make it. Henry thinks that because he has this yellow paper that he will not be killed in the battle and that he dosen't have to think about get chot either. As Wilson and Henry lay there and talk Wilson ended up asking for the yellow paper back and that made him fell weird but he did it.

I think that just because Henry had that paper dosen't mean anything he will still end up geting shot that wont save him.

chapter 14

Henry gets up the next morning and when he gets up Wilson and is fixing his head. He ask Henry how is head fells today and Henry's says not that bad at all. All around Henry he can hear the sounds of the battle and he said that he can here the wise thing go off and than the men charge at each other. As Henry lays there and think, he thinks that there are over a thousand died people around him.Then come to find out that Jim was shot in the side and ends up dieing.

If his head is better than he needs to get up and go fight.

chapter 13

Henry is siting by the fire. The man saves Henry and said that he didn't get shot the he just has been hit in the head and that he will take good care of him. He starts to walk towards the fire when someone yell stop. Henry looked up and saw Wilson. Wilson then at that point they sat done and started to talk. Henry than sat there and listen to him talk and then he fell asleep.

I think that Henry should have to get back out on that battle filed and fight.

Henry is in the forest still looking out at the battle field. As he stands there and he sees that the blue line has spotted them they are charging at him. Henry strands there and ask the men what went wrong at that point someone comes up and hits him in the head with the butt of the rifle he lays there and some stranger comes us and helped Henry to the mans campfire to help Henry out.

I think that henry should of helped and not just watched.

Henry is still walking throw the woods, but is starting to move closer, so that he can see who is wining the battle as he gets closer the sound gets louder and louder. Henry wonts to go back in to the battle but doesn't have a gun and is hungry and thirsty. He now fills bad that he didn't sick with it and that he has nothing to go back in to the battle with. He really hopes that the blue team wins and that when he gets back to camp that they will not be made that he wasn't there to help them out.

I don't think that they should let him back in he left and didn't help them and some men died cause he wasn't there to help.

chapter 10

As Henry goes along and helps other people out he comes and anther person and he states that he is going to see another death and one man says he got kids at how he will fight throw it. Henry ends up just getting up and walking away from the man and thinks that the man will be just fine and that is not that henry has see a crime.

Henry should stay and help that man. That man has little kids at home.

chapter 9

Henry ended up helping those soldier with there wounds and stated that he wished he had some red stuff to put on it that stated the Red Badge Of Courage which mint that if you had it one you had courage. Then he goes on to help another man and realized that it is Jim and he is crying out for help because he had been shot. Henry try to get Jim to lay down but Jim wont he said that he doesn't wont to get hit by a wagon, so because he wont lay done Henry try to get him to go in to a grass so that nothing with scar him anymore but he doesn't wont o go so Jim goes and finds a bush to lay in so that no one will find him. Jim lays done and Henry sees that his side is just riped apart. Jim ended up dieing right there and Henry put is fist up to the battle.

Henry shouldn't of left the battle but its o good thing he did or his friend wouldn't of had any help.

chapter 8

As Henry is still running throw the forest he is starting to get closer to the battle to were he cam hear what is gong on. When he gets out to a road he sees that there are some soldiers that are walking in a group. He comes up to a man and they start to talk about the courage you should have in yourself. That makes Henry think that he should of stayed at the battle and helped his friends out.


I think that Henry should go back cause his friends need him.

chapter 7

Henry is up set that he ran and left the other one behind and they had to fight with out him. He gets pretty far from the battle, he is running throw the forest. As he runs farther and farther he comes up to a dead solider who is wearing the same color outfit that he is and there are bugs all over this solider. Come to find out that it is the corporal and Henry starts to run from him and hopes he crys out to him.

I don't like that fact that Henry ran and left all his friends behind.

How come he doesn't help the corporal?

chapter 6

They survied the battle and most of them made it throw. When they all awake they got up and and shaked each others hands. Then a man called out the enemys are back get ready for battle again. This time Henry is not scard and is ready for the attack. Some of the soilders get up from the Trenches and start to run from the line for the battles and with thoses men Henry runs with them. Henry runs from the field stating that the enemys will charge from the forest at them and that they need to take cover.

Henry is brave to take charge and to let his teamate the they are come and to take cover.


How come Henry is not scard anymore?

They all get ready to attack once more. As Henry gets ready he stands there a thinks about how he has to go out and fight. He puts him self out as a cog. As he stands they and let all this ove pass him. Then all of a souden he startes to fire and reload again and again. Some one gets beat on the Front line. There Capton gets shot and they reteart.


I think that they did a great job of sticking with it and not giveing up.

chapter 4

As they sit in the Trenches waiting for the war to start they sit and think about when are they going to come is it going to be soon, but they can hear the sound and the gun shots, so they get ready to take the line to fight and just at that time the other people start to charge at them. Henry then loads his weapons and gets ready to shoot. Finally they attack and there capton gets killed.

I am proud that Henry didn't give up he stuck with it and fought the battle.

Why don't they just charge then just stay back and let each other get killed?

chapter 3

The soldiers had to march throw the forest which was kinda dark. Henry states that he is scared and thinks that at anytime somethings will jump out at him something like and enemy. They get back to the camp and get ready for bed and lay down when its time to get up they are awaken by the sound of a gun shot. When the men her that they begun to run and were scared as they ran they ended up running in to some of the other soldiers that were guarding things. T hen Henry thinks to him self on how all theses people here are just leading him to death and that he kinda doesn't wont to be her. well they ended up going and building trenches and to do that they used branches and stones. Then Jim ended up giving Henry a yellow envelope and said to take it home to his mom or family because Jim didn't think that he would make it throw.

I think that if those boys can't handle a gun shot then how are they going to handle war.

They found out that the rumor was a mistake and they ended up not moving. Henry sits worrying about if they are going to have to go off to war or if they are not going to do. The Seargent tells the men that they have to stat marching and all the men start to think it time its time to battle. the night came and it time to set up camp. when the men get that done they lay and think to them self are we ready for this or should we get up and run.

This is going to be bad cause most of theses men don't know what they are doing and are scared and who knows how this could turn out thats what I think.

chapter1

Henry a young man enlists in the war so he can be a hero. His mother does not want him to go because she is afraid that he will not come back. Then he goes off towar, waiting to fight but is nervous about fighting beacuse he has never done this before. The soldiers are living on a river bank a man is washing a shirt and overhead a rumor and runs to report it. They get ready to go to battle. Henry one of Jim's friend goes back and lays down on his cough to think about how he may go in to the battle. He thinks about what his mother says that she is scared and doesn't really wont him to go, but she tells him that he can go and that know matter what happen if he dies or lives that she will be able to take care of her self. Henry lays there and thinks about if he should run or if he should stay. They here there is a rumor saying that there regiment will be the next to fight.

I think that Henry should do what he wants and they he shouldn't do what his mom thinks is the best for him. He should not run he should stick with it and fight. I think they will go into battle soon and he will have to decide whether to run or stay and fight.
